Act Before Noon is run by BFD Publishing Limited, a New Zealand company. This page explains what we collect through actbeforenoon.co.nz, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to [email protected].
When you buy
Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's checkout page, so we never see or store your card number. Stripe gives us your email address, name and country so we can deliver your order and help if something goes wrong. Your download page checks your order with Stripe each time you open it; we do not keep a separate copy. Stripe's own privacy policy covers the payment itself.
If you join the email list
Only if you tick the box. We store your email address, the exact wording you agreed to and when, which form you used, which of our two sites you were on, your country (worked out from your connection) and a shortened copy of your browser's identification string. We do not store your IP address. The list is kept in Cloudflare D1, a database run by Cloudflare. Emails will be sent through Resend. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we keep a note that you did, so you are not added again by mistake.
Hosting, cookies and analytics
Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, it handles your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site. To stop people flooding the sign-up form, we briefly keep a scrambled code made from your IP address, never the address itself. It expires after 10 minutes and is then cleared out. We use Google Analytics to count visits, with no ads or cross-site tracking (it sets its own cookies to do that). Stripe's checkout page is run by Stripe and uses its own cookies for payments and fraud prevention.
Who else sees it
Only the services named above: Stripe, Cloudflare, Resend and Google. They are based overseas, so your information may be stored outside New Zealand. We never sell or rent your details.
How long we keep it
Email list details stay until you ask us to delete them. Order records stay in Stripe for as long as New Zealand tax law requires, currently seven years.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. To see, correct or delete your details, email [email protected] and we will reply within 20 working days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner.
